Men?s Soccer Drops 2-0 Decision vs FAU

BOCA RATON, FLA. (Sept. 16, 2007)  The Georgia State men's soccer (1-3-1) team dropped their second straight match on Sunday afternoon, losing 2-0 to the Florida Atlantic University Owls (3-3).

Junior goalkeeper Filipe Carvalho finished with eight saves on the day, compared to FAU's two, however the Owls outshot State 19-6 overall. The Panthers only managed two shots on goal, with junior forward Dathan Knott and junior midfielder Joe Devito each recording one a piece.  

Shire Standnes gave the Owls a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute after scoring on a rebounded header from fellow teammate Gianni Piccoletti.  FAU scored again in the second period, as Trevor Pluskota beat Carvalho at the goal sending the ball into the right side of the net in the 76th minute to eventually win the match and sweep the tournament.

 

The Panthers return to action this Friday, hosting Jacksonville at 4 p.m.
