JACKSONVILLE, FLA. (Jan. 25, 2009) The Georgia State men's tennis team dropped another close match, edged 4-3 by North Florida on Sunday afternoon.
Georgia State (0-2) won the doubles point for the second straight time, as Martin Shishkov and Nejc Podkrajsec rolled to an 8-3 win over Frederico Levi and Marc Misanovic at No. 1 and Jackson Moore and William Adeimy defeated Ronnie Sang and Graham Edgar 8-3 at No. 3.
No. 69 Podkrajsek dropped his first singles match of the season, losing 6-4, 6-3 to Levi at No. 1, to tie the score at 1-1. Shishkov gave the Panthers a 2-1 lead, winning 7-5, 6-4 against Misanovic at No. 2 singles. Henri Mangin added State's third point with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 victory over Gattiker at No. 3. However the Ospreys cruised to three straight singles victories at No. 4-6.
Moore dropped a 7-5, 6-4 decision to Chiaretti at No. 4, Adeimy lost 6-2, 6-0 to Edgar at No. 5, and Orlando Battaglia feel 7-5, 6-2 to Sang at No. 6.
The Panthers host back-to-back matches at home next weekend, welcoming Belmont on Friday, Jan. 30th at 1 p.m. and Radford, Saturday, Jan. 31st at 1 p.m.
