Atlanta, Ga. - The Georgia State women's tennis team (1-6) took care of business in its home opener against Georgia Southern Friday afternoon, 6-1. Sophomore Diana Nakic won in straight sets to continue her perfect season with a 7-0 singles record.
The Panthers came out with some much needed intensity after sweeping the doubles matches to give Georgia State the early 1-0 advantage. All three doubles teams earned victories with Katerina Gresova/ Tereza Lerova winning the doubles point with their 8-4 victory over Ashley Hungerford/ Krsiti Kegerreis.
"We came out focused and ready to play today, we took care of business today. We need to continue to play with the same intensity in future matches," said head coach Miha Lisac.
Georgia State clinched the match after taking three straight singles victories at the first three positions in the lineup. Sophomore Kir Kemp, who played at No. 3 singles, defeated Kristi Kegerreis, 6-3, 6-1, to win the match for the Panthers.
Georgia State continues its home stand when they host UAB on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Piedmont Park.
