CHARLESTON, S.C. - The No. 8 Georgia State sand volleyball team split its two duals on the final day of the College of Charleston Tournament, defeating South Carolina and falling to No. 4 Florida State.
Starting off the day, the No. 8 Panthers (12-4) faced No. 4 Florida State and lost 4-1 to the Seminoles. The No. 5 flight of Alexis Townsend and Delaney Rohan were the only pair to win, defeating Julia Tompson and Annie Montgomery 21-17, 21-12. At the No. 3 flight, Katelyn Rawls and Sarah Agnew had a marathon loss to Sarah Wickstrom and Fatina Yildirim, losing 21-17, 33-35, 15-13.
The second match of the day was more successful for the Panthers, with GSU defeating South Carolina 4-1. At the No. 1 flight, Moriah Bellissimo and Katie Madewell defeated Paige Wheeler and Megan Kent 21-18, 21-19. At the No. 2 flight, Jansen Button and Sara Olivova defeated Sarah Blomgren and Mikaela Christiaansen 21-16, 21-16.
At the No. 3 flight, Rawls and Agnew defeated Jordan Loney and Jade Vitt 24-22, 21-12. At the No. 4 flight, Milani Pickering and Natalie Wilson defeated Chynna Ratner and Litsa Darby 21-13, 21-11.
The Panthers will return to action April 11-13 at the Fiesta at Siesta Tournament in Siesta Key, Fla.
