ATLANTA – Seniors Masa Grgan and Chaimaa Roudami led the Georgia State women's tennis team to a 4-2 win over Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday at Atlanta Athletic Club. With the win, the No. 67 Panthers are now 3-2 on the year.

“I was proud of the way Masa [Grgan] played yesterday and today,” head coach Jason Marshall said. “With more and more matches, everybody is going to start playing their best tennis and when we get to that point, we're going to be difficult to beat.”

Grgan won the No. 2 singles match in straight sets, beating FGCU's Elizabeth Means 6-2, 6-3. The Panthers also won the top singles contest with No. 102 Niri Rasolomalala claiming a 6-3, 6-4 win. FGCU responded with points at No. 3 and 4 singles, but Roudami came through for the Panthers at No. 5 and clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-3 victory.

Georgia State won the doubles point with a 6-2 win at No. 2 and a 6-3 win at No. 3. The No. 2 pair of Rasolomalala and Kristin Rehse boast a 4-1 record this season.

GSU has now won two-straight after losing to Middle Tennessee on Friday. Marshall, in his first year as head coach, said the two seniors are helping with getting the transition to a new coach.

“Chaimaa [Roudami] made in-game adjustments today that made an impact on her game and turned around the match,” Marshall said. “We're proud of the way she was able to improve with each match this weekend. Having her and Masa buy into the system is a big deal.”

Next up is a road trip to Raleigh, N.C. Georgia State and Winthrop, both ranked No. 67 by the ITA, will play on Saturday before GSU plays host North Carolina State on Sunday.
