MOBILE, Ala. – Georgia State's women's tennis team rebounded from Friday's loss with a 5-2 win over Sun Belt-foe Appalachian State in Mobile, Ala. on Saturday. The Panthers (8-8) close out the regular season with four straight home matches.
Georgia State won the No. 3 doubles match with Marcia Tere-Apisah and Veronika Golanova and then clinched the point with an 8-6 win at No. 2 with Masa Grgan and Tarani Kamoe. Kristin Rehse and Niri Rasolomalala, who lead the team in doubles, were leading 7-2 when the doubles point was clinched.
The Panthers kept their foot on the pedal in singles play and took a 2-0 lead as Chaimaa Roudami claimed her team-best 10th victory, winning 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. Kamoe won in straight sets at No. 6 and Rasolomalala did the same at No. 2 to give GSU the 4-0 advantage. Play went on and Appalachian State ended up winning the No. 1 match along with the No. 5 match.
Georgia State hosts four straight home matches to end the regular season. The first is Friday, March 7 against South Florida at Piedmont Park.
