ATLANTA – Georgia State's tenth-ranked beach volleyball team recorded a decisive 5-0 win over in-state rival Mercer Wednesday afternoon at the GSU Beach Volleyball Complex to improve to 3-1 on the season.
With sunny skies, 75-degree weather and a rowdy home crowd, GSU tallied its second 5-0 sweep of the young season. The Panthers are now 7-0 all-time against the Bears. In Wednesday's contest, GSU won all but one flight in two sets, going to a third in the fifth flight. Head coach Beth Van Fleet said she was pleased to see her squad get better.
“Mercer is a team that has improved tremendously each season. It's a good feeling to be able to defend our home court,” Van Fleet said. “We talked a lot about executing this week and that we have a strategy and are implementing it. I saw that across the board tonight.”
