* No. 8 Georgia State (17-4, 4-2 CCSA) split for the second day in a row, beating FAU before losing to No. 10 FIU.

* The Panthers finish the Surf & Turf with a 2-2 record.

* Next up for GSU is a trip to New Orleans for the Green Wave Invitational.

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Georgia State's beach volleyball team finished the FIU Surf & Turf with a 2-2 record after a 4-1 win over FAU and 3-2 loss to No. 10 FIU. GSU, ranked No. 8 in the country, moves to 17-4 on the season and 4-2 in the CCSA.

“We had the opportunity to compete against some of the top teams in the country this weekend,” head coach Beth Van Fleet said. “I am proud of how the team competed and we learned from both our wins and losses. We are excited to get back to practice and clean up some of our skills.”

Georgia State was looking to even the season series with the Owls after falling to FAU back during the opening weekend. The Panthers took the top four flights to win 4-1 and pick up their fourth CCSA win of 2016.

Georgia State then took on the host FIU Panthers in a meeting of two top-10 squads. GSU defeated FIU in the first match this season, but Saturday was the host Panthers day, as GSU lost the contest 3-2.

GSU is on the road again next weekend. The Panthers will visit New Orleans to compete at Tulane's Green Way Invitational.
