Seniors Shine in Final Match in Atlanta

ATLANTA – No. 47 Georgia State improved to 10-5 and has now won three straight matches and five of their last six following a 6-1 win against Charlotte.

Seniors Linn Timmermann and Niri Rasolomalala excelled in their final home stand, earning 6-2, 6-2 and 6-4, 6-2 individual wins respectively.

The Panthers wrestled with the 49ers for the doubles point early in the afternoon. Freshmen Chiara Volejnicek and Daniela Ramirez finished first with a 6-3 victory in position three. Linn Timmermann and Tarani Kamoe battled on court one, finishing with a 7-5 win, securing the doubles point for the Panthers.

Niri Rasolomalala and Kristin Rehse were ahead 6-5 when the doubles point was clinched.

In singles, Timmermann and Ramirez earned the first points for GSU with a pair of 6-2, 6-2 wins.

Rasolomalala clinched the win for the Panthers on court three with a 6-4, 6-2 victory.

Rehse won her match on court two 6-4, 6-2.

The only point for Charlotte came on court five as Lara Vovk lost a tightly contested match 1-6, 7-6, 10-8.

Volejnicek brought the match to an end with a come-from-behind 4-6, 6-1, 10-6 win on court four.

Georgia State will be on the road next weekend for important conference matches against Troy and No. 43 South Alabama.

Conference Championships will be April 21-24 in New Orleans. The highest ITA ranked team will secure the top seed in the tournament.
