What you need to know:

* Georgia State fell to Stetson and Florida State in two closely-contested matches Saturday on the first day of the Gamecock Invitational.

* In the first match of the day, Stetson avenged its earlier 3-2 loss at the hands of the Panthers (10-7, 2-1 CCSA) last weekend with a 3-2 victory of its own. Florida State also edged the Panthers 3-2 in the second match of the day.

* GSU will look to bounce back Sunday versus No. 1 USC and the host South Carolina Gamecocks at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – No. 9 Georgia State fell to Stetson and Florida State 3-2 at Wheeler Beach Saturday on day one of the Gamecock Invitational.

In the first match of the day, Delaney Rohan and Chelsea Ross won in straight sets in the No. 1 flight over the Hatters' Samantha Harris and Maggie Skjelbred. Olivia Stasevich and Georgia Johnson also earned a win in the No. 5 flight over Stetson.

Rohan and Ross moved to 2-0 on the day with a 21-15, 21-13 victory over Florida State's No. 1 tandem. Johnson combined with Jessica Fourspring to register her second win of the day in the No. 4 flight.

The Panthers (10-7, 2-1) are now 4-4 versus the Mad Hatters and 1-5 against the Seminoles all-time.

Georgia State will hit the sand tomorrow starting at 11 a.m. versus the No. 1 USC Trojans. GSU wraps up the Gamecock Invitational with host South Carolina at 5 p.m. ET.
