Panthers Fall in Season Opener 1-0

CONWAY, Ark. – Georgia State men's soccer dropped a 1-0 decision to Central Arkansas in the regular season opener at the Bill Stephens Soccer Complex Friday night.

Despite the loss, the Panthers (0-1) outshot Central Arkansas (1-0) 18-11 and finished with seven corner kicks while the Bears had only two. Max Hemmings led Georgia State with four total shots and Aris Briggs led the team with two shots on goal.

Central Arkansas scored the lone goal of the match in the 19th minute off a set piece that resulted in a header in the bottom corner of the box. GSU was able to rattle off nine shots in the second half but was unable to even the score.

Georgia State is back in action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday for a road match against No. 6 Louisville. Fans can watch the game live on the ACC Network Extra, or follow along via live stats.
