Proctor’s Late Goal Gives Men's Soccer 1-0 Win Over Central Arkansas

Box Score ATLANTA – Georgia State senior defender George Proctor scored in the 86^th minute to give the Panthers a 1-0 win over Central Arkansas in the regular season finale for both schools at the GSU Soccer Complex on Friday afternoon.

For the second-straight match, Proctor scored from well outside the box, giving the senior his second goal of the season.

Georgia State (9-2, 4-2 Sun Belt) finished the season undefeated at home while outscoring its opponents 11-0 in Atlanta. The Panthers will enter next week's Sun Belt Conference Championship as the No. 2-seed and play a rematch with the No. 3 seed Bears on Friday night at 7 p.m.

Central Arkansas (3-5, 3-3 Sun Belt) was looking for the season sweep of the Panthers after a win in Conway, Ark., last month. However, Georgia State outshot UCA 11-5 and Paul Tyson's three saves proved to be enough.

The Bears played down a man the entire second half after a red card to Edoardo Calzola in the 38^th minute of the match.

MATCH NOTES

Georgia State improved to 5-0 at home this season and earned revenge on the Bears who had handed the Panthers their last loss at home coming last season.
Central Arkansas topped the Panthers 2-0 last month – the only time this season that Georgia State had given up more than one goal in a match.
With the win, Georgia State tied the all-time series 3-3 and now leads in Atlanta 2-1.
