Georgia State Caps Off Perfect Weekend

The Panthers never dropped a set in route to earning three sweeps over the weekend

What you need to know:
*Georgia State defeated College of Charleston on Sunday to cap off a perfect 3-0 weekend in Charleston.
*State never dropped a set during this weekend's competition. 
*The Panthers return to the sand Tuesday taking on TCU, UNF, and Mercer at the GSU Beach Complex.
 

CHARLESTON, S.C.- The Georgia State Sandy Panthers dominated in a meeting with conference rival College of Charleston Sunday in Charleston. GSU defeated the Cougars 5-0 to improve to 8-3 on the year.
 
"Each pair played really consistent this weekend," said junior Bekah Brodbeck. "The hard work we have put into practice showed in each game."
 
Four Georgia State pairs, Olivia Stasevich and Georgia Johnson, Eden Hawes and Maddy Delmonte, Kate Novack and Kelly Dorn, and Maddie Gordon and Becky Tresham, all went 3-0 on the weekend. 
 
The fun started when Cara Guthrie and Elise Saga built off their momentum from yesterday, winning their second match as a pair in the fifth slot. Maddie Gordon and Becky Tresham kept the points coming with a victory on court four. This marked their tenth win together this season. . 
 
Novack and Dorn would clinch the dual behind a 21-12, 21-10 win on court three. This pair now holds an impressive 9-2 mark on the season. Johnson and Stasevich would outlast their opposition 22-20 in the second set to earn the fourth point for the Panthers. The sweep was secured minutes later with a 21-18, 21-14 win by Hawes and Delmonte on court two. 
 
 On the weekend GSU went 15-0, never dropping an individual match or set in route to earning three sweeps. This marks four sweeps in a row by the Sandy Panthers, the second most consecutive sweeps in program history. 
 
"I know we have learned a lot from each win so far this season," said Brodbeck. "We will be able to use what we have learned in our next games."
 
The Panthers are back in action Tuesday for a trio of home matches at the GSU Beach Complex. Georgia State will host TCU, UNF, and Mercer at the annual Day of Duals.
