Men's Soccer Remains Unbeaten With 4-0 Win Over UAB

Box Score ATLANTA – Georgia State scored twice in the first half and twice in the second half en route to a 4-0 win over UAB on Wednesday night at Center Parc Stadium.
Georgia State improved to 3-0 for the first time since the 2003 season, while UAB dropped to 1-2.

Junior Matthew Fearnley got the Panthers on the board with his second goal of the year in the 7th minute with an assist from Aris Briggs.

Briggs assisted on the second goal as well scored by junior Logan Luque in the 19th minute.

Just 90 seconds into the second half sophomore Justin Guest scored his first goal of the season to give the Panthers a 3-0 lead. Sophomore Max Wilkins scored the final goal in the 81st minute off an assist from senior George Proctor.

Gunther Rankenburg got his first start of the season in goal for the Panthers and finished with three saves.

MATCH NOTES
  • Despite last season remaining unbeaten in their first nine games, this is the Panthers first 3-0 start since 2003 when Georgia State began the year 5-0.
  • Georgia State has now outscored its opponents 9-2 this season with tonight's result being the first shutout of the year.
  • Georgia State now leads the all-time series with the Blazers 14-9-1, including an 8-5 mark in Atlanta.
  • The Panthers were playing their first-ever game at Center Parc Stadium after rain forced the move away from the grass surface at the GSU Soccer Complex.
