Men's Soccer Falls to No. 3 seed Georgetown in NCAA Tournament Round of 32

Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Georgia State men's soccer team held with No. 3 Georgetown before a pair of second half goals went the way of the Hoyas as the Panthers fell 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at Shaw Field in the NCAA Tournament.

Georgia State (13-7) saw its fifth appearance in the NCAA Tournament come to an end following the first tournament win in program history last Thursday. Georgetown (17-2) remained undefeated at home this year, 11-0, and will now host the winner of No. 14-seed Marshall and Providence next Sunday.

The two teams went into the locker room scoreless, but after a foul in the box in the 69th minute, Georgetown's Dante Polvara found the back of the net on a penalty kick ruining the clean sheet of Panther goalkeeper Gunther Rankenburg.

The Hoyas found the back of the net one more time in the 82nd minute on a goal by Zach Riviere off a pass from Chris Hegardt.

Rankenburg faced a barrage of shots as the Hoyas outshot the Panthers 18-7 as the junior goalkeeper earned six saves.

The Panthers had multiple opportunities in the final minutes, but unfortunately could not find the back of the net.
