ATLANTA -- Georgia State men's tennis is currently on a four-game winning streak, including a 6-1 victory to open Sun Belt play against Coastal Carolina. The Panthers will look to continue their success with a pair of matches this week. First, GSU will pause SBC action in a meeting with Presbyterian Friday before battling in-state and conference foe Georgia Southern Saturday. Both matches will be hosted at the Peachtree City Tennis Center.
The Panthers opened Sun Belt play Tuesday with a neutral site meeting against the Chanticleers. Despite dropping their first doubles point in five matches, GSU quickly rebounded. The Panthers swept singles play en route to besting Coastal Carolina 6-1.
Georgia State has two pairs in the latest ITA doubles rankings. Harvey Maughan and Kevin Huynh, who have accumulated six wins, came in at No. 44. This mark's the pair's first time in the rankings. Veteran duo Andrei Duarte and Roberts Grinvalds were tabbed as the No. 68 pairing in the country.
GSU will face a Presbyterian team, who is coming off a 4-3 loss to UNC Asheville. Overall the Blue Hose have registered a 6-4 record this season. First serve is slated for a 2:00 p.m. Saturday the Panthers will meet a Georgia Southern team with a 10-6 record. The Eagles dropped their conference opener to the Chanticleers 4-1, but have since recorded two consecutive victories. Georgia State emerged victorious in the last meeting between the two programs in 2019. Saturday's first serve is also set for a 2:00 p.m. start.
Live stats will not be available during Friday's contest, but will be available during Saturday's Sun Belt meeting.
