No. 19 Georgia State to Host Trio of Teams in Annual Day of Duals

As we look ahead to this week, video recaps last weekend's win over No. 11 FAU

ATLANTA- After splitting action at the Tiger Beach Challenge, No. 19 Georgia State beach volleyball (4-4) returns to downtown Atlanta for the annual Day of Duals tournament Wednesday at the GSU Beach Volleyball Complex. The Panthers will host three opponents in Coastal Carolina, Chattanooga, and Mercer.

The Sandy Panthers will enter the day with extra gratitude for every game, as the 2020 Day of Duals marked the last competition for GSU during the abbreviated season. Georgia State will look to grow on their great success on the home sand in years past. The Panthers were 3-0 at the GSU Beach Volleyball Complex last year, and own a 14-1 home record over the past three seasons.

The Sandy Panthers will first battle Coastal Carolina at 8:00 a.m. GSU met the Chanticleers for the first time in program history last season, winning the dual at the College of Charleston Beach Classic.

Georgia State will have a large pause in action before returning to the courts to face Chattanooga at 4:00 p.m. This will mark the first tilt between the two squads, as Chattanooga is a young program. The Panthers will cap off the event with a meeting against Mercer. Last season GSU faced the in-state opponent twice, emerging victorious in both appearances.

"We are excited to welcome Coastal Carolina, Chattanooga, and Mercer to our Day of Duals this Wednesday," said head coach Beth Van Fleet. "Playing at our home and defending our courts is something we look forward to every season. Last year's event was the last time we competed as a team in 2020. That will be in our hearts this week as we make the most of each opportunity to play as a team, fight for each point, and enjoy the ups and downs of competitions."

Georgia State is coming off a 2-2 weekend at the Tiger Beach Challenge. During the first day of competition the Panthers collected a pair of wins, including a hard fought victory over CCSA rival No. 11 FAU. The following day GSU remained competitive with the nation's top programs, but ultimately fell to No. 2 FSU and host No. 1 LSU.

Admission to Georgia State's Day of Duals is free and parking is available for $3 in the G Deck with entrances located on Collins Street, Courtland Street, and Central Avenue. Concessions will not be available at this year's event, but fans are welcome to bring food and drink. No glass is allowed at the GSU Beach Volleyball Complex.  Live stats can be found on our tournament central page. GSU matches can be streamed via Periscope found on our Twitter page.
