Top-Seeded Panthers Earn a Bye to Saturday's SBC Championship Semifinal

ATLANTA -- Top seeded Georgia State will enter this weekend's Sun Belt Championships with an unblemished 4-0 record in regular season conference action. The Panthers will face the winner of the Georgia Southern and Coastal Carolina match in the tournament semifinals on Saturday morning.

Georgia State (14-7) finished the regular season with a trio of tough non-conference contests, earning a win over UAB and falling to No. 46 Middle Tennessee and UNC Wilmington. Senior Kevin Huynh registered two doubles victories on the top court and impressive singles play over the final week of regular season. Due to his efforts, Huynh was named this week's Sun Belt Player of the Week. This marks the fourth time a member of the GSU squad has earned the honor this season.

Georgia State has historically found success throughout the SBC Tournament. The Panthers have made three-straight SBC final appearances, winning it all in 2017 to advance to the NCAA Tournament. GSU has faced South Alabama in each of the three finals.

The Panthers will face either Georgia Southern or Coastal Carolina for the second time this season. In the first meeting with the Chanticleers, GSU cruised to a 6-1 victory. Coastal Carolina enters this weekend with an 8-8 overall record. Georgia State found similar success in the first outing against the Eagles, recording a 7-0 sweep over the in-state rival. Georgia Southern concluded the regular season with an 11-9 record.

Saturday's first serve is set for 10:00 a.m. Fans can follow along with live stats and streaming via ESPN+. If the Panthers win, the team will advance to the finals, which will take place on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. All matches will be held at the Peachtree City Tennis Center.
