Morgantown, wv- Panthers drop a hard-fought match at West Virginia Sunday evening, 3-2. The loss drops the Panthers to 9-3-3 on the season and 2-2-2 in the Sun Belt keeping them at number four in the conference.

Both teams were on the board within the first three minutes of the match. The Mountaineers got a quick goal in in the 2nd minute to get on the board first.

Simon Carlson answered immediately beating West Virginia's keeper to a WVU pass in the box to tap the ball for an easy goal. The goal is Carlson's sixth of the season and he now leads the Panthers in goals.

Neither team scored for the rest of the first half and only rattled off 11 shots total.

The Mountaineers scored their next goal in the 50th minute, taking advantage of a missed out of bounds call leading players to stop play, leaving the goal wide open for the score.

West Virginia would score one last time a minute later stretching their lead to 3-1.

The Panthers kept fighting, scoring another goal in the 73rd minute. A free kick from Carlson found the head of Evan Schroeder to bring the Panthers within one. This was Schroeder's second header of the season and Carlson recorded a game high of three points.

Despite multiple attempts and an almost goal headed in by Max Wilkins the Panthers would not score another goal.
