ATLANTA -- Georgia State fell 31-28 to ULM Saturday afternoon at Center Parc Stadium, snapping the Panthers' two-game winning streak. GSU led the entire game until the Warhawks' Quae Drake returned an interception 10 yards for a touchdown with 6:23 remaining.

Playing without three injured starters on offense and two on defense, Georgia State (4-6, 3-3 Sun Belt) outgained ULM (4-6, 3-3) 535 yards to 300, but the Panthers hurt themselves with two turnovers and allowed a blocked punt for a touchdown.

Darren Grainger passed for a career-high 349 yards and one touchdown and rushed for 50 yards and another score.

Junior Marcus Carroll had his second-straight 100-yard rushing effort with an even 100 on 28 carries. Tucker Gregg rushed for two touchdowns to give him 27 for his career to become Georgia State's career leader in touchdowns scored, passing Albert Wilson (26).

Jamari Thrash caught nine passes for 164 yards, while Ja'Cyais Credle had six receptions for 76 yards, including a 21-yard touchdown.

Georgia State took a 14-3 lead late in the first quarter after scoring runs by Grainger and Gregg, but on the Panthers' next possession, ULM blocked Michael Hayes punt and Drake returned it 23 yards for a touchdown to pull the Warhawks within 14-10 with 14:16 left in the second quarter.

The Panthers answered immediately with Gregg's second touchdown, this one from nine yards out with 11:20 left in the half. But ULM managed a field goal and then a touchdown late in the half to pull within 21-20 at the intermission.

Grainger's touchdown pass to Credle, which gave the Panthers a 28-20 lead with four minutes left in the third quarter, was the 35th of his career, to pass Dan Ellington and move into second place in GSU history, trailing only Nick Arbuckle (51).

ULM pulled closer as Callum Sutherland's 50-yard field early in the fourth quarter. The Warhawks then drove to the GSU 27-yard line when Antavious Lane intercepted ULM quarterback Chandler Rogers with 7:39 to play. But three plays later, on 3rd-and-5, Grainger was intercepted for the touchdown.

Lane's interception for GSU was the 11th of his career to tie teammate Quavian White for the Georgia State career lead.

Georgia State plays its final two games on the road, beginning next Saturday at James Madison in a 2 p.m. kickoff on ESPN+.
