Sandy Panthers Travel to Gulf Shores for Fourth Annual March to May

GULF SHORES, Ala.- After a successful outing at the team's annual Day of Duals that saw the Sandy Panthers post three consecutive shutouts and sweep in match play as a collective, the Georgia State beach volleyball team travels to Gulf Shores, Ala. this weekend to compete in the fourth annual March to May hosted by UAB.

Arriving in Gulf Shores on Tuesday, the tournament's slate of competition for GSU will include fellow Conference USA member UAB as well as four nationally ranked opponents in No. 1 UCLA, No. 5 LSU, No. 7 Grand Canyon and No. 20 Tulane. The field also includes C-USA member institution No. 11 Florida Atlantic as well as No. 15 South Carolina.

The Panthers climbed to No. 13 in the AVCA collegiate beach volleyball poll and No. 14 in the CBVB rankings this past week. No. 13 GSU has displayed strong performances across all flights en route to a current 8-4 record on the season.

Top pair Kelly Dorn and Elise Saga have posted an 11-1 record with dominant performances in the Panthers' No. 1 flight. Dorn and Saga have accounted for five ranked victories this spring.

Kayla Whetstone and Yasmin Kuck received Conference USA Pair of the Week honors a week prior for the duo's 4-1 performance at the Horned Frog Challenge. Whetstone and Kuck knocked off host No. 5 TCU in Fort Worth while competing in the No. 2 flight for the Panthers.

Sisters Angel Ferary and Bella Ferary hold an 11-1 record in match play while competing in the team's fourth flight. The duo's resume is highlighted by four top 20 victories including a win over No. 3 FSU.

The weekend's originally scheduled match times have been impacted by weather and are to be determined throughout the weekend. GSU's tentative tournament lineup of matches on Friday will include a rematch against No. 20 Tulane as well as outings against host UAB and No. 7 Grand Canyon. Saturday will see the Panthers rematch No. 5 LSU, then face No. 1 UCLA to close out the tournament.

Tournament outings will be held at The Hangout in Gulf Shores.
