Sandy Panthers Sweep Sunday Competition with Victories Over Coastal Carolina, Stetson

DeLand, Fla.- Entering the second day of tournament competition at the Stetson Beach Bash having dropped conference matches against No. 10 FAU and No. 19 FIU on Saturday, the Georgia State beach volleyball team posted back-to-back wins facing Conference USA opponent Coastal Carolina and host No. 18 Stetson on Sunday.

The Panthers' first dual of the day would begin at 8 a.m. ET as No. 13 GSU battled Coastal Carolina in a rematch. GSU previously knocked off the C-USA foe in the team's annual Day of Duals on March 9 in a sweep, 5-0.

GSU would strike quick with Angel Ferary and Bella Ferary handling opponents in the No. 4 flight and collecting a win to give the Panthers an early lead, 1-0. Becky Tresham and Chloee Kleespies saw victory, 21-17, 21-10, in flight No. 5 to earn GSU an additional point.

No. 3 pair Kayla Whetstone and Yasmin Kuck clinched the victory for GSU with a win in the No. 3 flight, 21-17, 21-15. With the Panthers playing out matches in the first and second flights, top pair Kelly Dorn and Elise Saga as well as No. 2 pair Eden Hawes and Maddy Delmonte accounted for victories on each court and secured another shutout over Coastal Carolina, 5-0.

Sunday's second dual saw GSU rematch host No. 18 Stetson in the team's final outing of the weekend in DeLand. The Panthers bested the Hatters in a dual at the Horned Frog Challenge in Fort Worth on March 4.

Tresham and Kleespies once again posted a strong victory, 21-9, 21-19, on the fifth court. Kuck and Whetstone followed up Sunday morning's victory with an additional win, 9-21, 21-18, 20-18, competing in the No. 4 flight as GSU took a 2-0 advantage.

Earning the pair a 19th victory and moving to 19-2 on the season, the Ferary sisters posted yet another win, 21-18, 21-17, as the duo clinched for the Panthers in the No. 3 flight and extended the lead to 3-0. The sisters finished unbeaten over the weekend at 4-0.

After narrowly dropping three set duals on courts No. 1 and No. 2, GSU closed out its weekend tournament action in Florida with a second victory over host 18th ranked Stetson, 3-2. The Panthers concluded play at the Stetson Beach Bash with a 2-2 record and improve to 12-9 overall.

The Sandy Panthers will resume tournament action next weekend as the team travels to compete at the North Florida Invite. GSU's slate of duals is set to include a rematch with C-USA opponent No. 10 FAU and host North Florida on Friday, April 1. The second day of dual match play will feature a meeting with No. 16 Pepperdine and a rematch facing No. 4 Florida State.

Information on streaming and live scoring will be posted to the team's social media pages on match days.
