Sandy Panthers to Host GSU Digging Duals at GSU Beach Volleyball Complex

ATLANTA- Returning home to host its second tournament of the spring 2022 campaign, the Georgia State beach volleyball team will compete in the annual GSU Digging Duals at the GSU Beach Volleyball Complex in Atlanta this weekend. No. 13 GSU welcomes four teams for the tournament with a slate of matches to include outings facing Conference USA opponent UAB, Tampa, Austin Peay and Chattanooga.

After splitting competition at the North Florida Invite in Jacksonville last weekend, the Panthers moved to 14-11 on the season and 3-3 in C-USA play.

Highlighting GSU's tournament appearances each weekend has been sisters Angel Ferary and Bella Ferary posting a 23-2 overall record in dual match play for the spring with 15 victories facing ranked opponents in the team's third and fourth flights. The duo's efforts garnered C-USA Pair of the Week consideration for a third consecutive week.

The team will open tournament play on Friday, April 8 with matches facing Tampa at 9 a.m. ET and Austin Peay at 3 p.m. ET.

The second day of tournament play on Saturday, April 9 will see GSU take on UTC at noon ET as well as conference foe UAB in a rematch at 4 p.m. ET. The Panthers will close out the weekend with the dual against UAB having previously beaten the Blazers in a sweep, 3-0, at the March to May in Gulf Shores on March 18.

The team's Senior Day ceremony will take place on Saturday and admission will be free for fans. More information on live scoring will be posted to the team's social media pages leading up to the weekend tournament in Atlanta.
