No. 11 Sandy Panthers Travel to South Carolina For Gamecock Grand Slam

ATLANTA— The No. 11 ranked Georgia State beach volleyball team (10-7) travels to Columbia, South Carolina, this weekend for the Gamecock Grand Slam. The dual match tournament hosted by South Carolina on March 25-26 will mark the fifth tournament outing of the spring for head coach Beth Van Fleet and the Sandy Panthers.

Van Fleet enters the weekend just two wins shy of 200 total victories coaching at GSU. The Sandy Panthers' head coach currently stands at third place in NCAA wins among active collegiate beach volleyball coaches with 166.

GSU is coming off a weekend in Gulf Shores that saw the team matchup against five nationally ranked opponents. After facing four consecutive top-10 teams and beginning the fifth annual March To May with an 0-4 record, the Sandy Panthers posted back-to-back wins over host UAB and No. 19 Tulane for a 2-4 final mark on the weekend.

GSU opens the weekend in Columbia on Saturday, March 25 with a dual match against Tampa at 8 a.m. ET. The Sandy Panthers will follow the opener with a matchup against Arizona State at noon.

The team returns for the second day of tournament competition on Sunday with a 2 p.m. outing against Houston Christian. GSU will close the weekend with a ranked matchup facing host No. 16 South Carolina at 4 p.m. ET.

Matches are set to be contested at Wheeler Beach on campus at The University of South Carolina. Live coverage of the matches will be provided by the host and can be accessed via the links below.
