Women's Tennis Falls Hosting Pair of Conference Matches

ATLANTA— Georgia State women's tennis (1-12) saw defeat in a pair of Sun Belt Conference matches against Marshall and Appalachian State in Atlanta this weekend.

Despite competitive play, the Panthers continue the 2023 season forced to default at the No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles courts for every match due to a shorthanded roster. Spotting both teams 2 points following losses in doubles, GSU fell short in each match by a 4-0 count.

Maria Paredes and Pragnya Kumar ended play against Marshall leading at court positions No. 3 and No. 4 respectively. Paredes went unfinished, 6-4, 4-1, up, at the third court, while Kumar led by a set, 6-3, 2-4, at court four before the team fell.

Eva Chivu played to a third set at the top court before ending the match following the 4-0 clinch by The Herd.

GSU returns to action next Saturday, April 1 with a conference outing on the road facing Troy. The match in Troy, Alabama, is slated for 10 a.m. ET with further information to follow later in the week.
