COLUMBIA, S.C. – Eleven Panthers earned personal-bests at the two-day Carolina Challenge on Friday and Saturday.
The Georgia State track team earned three first place finishes in Carolina, including wins in the 800m and one-mile races, and the long jump event. Ana Cubillo won the 800m event after posting a personal-best 2:18.54 time.
Mencia Abaigar also placed first in her event after running a personal-best 5:18.14 time in the one-mile race, followed by Julia Dura in second place. Dura posted a personal-best 5:19.19 time
Camarii Tellis won the long jump event with a season-best 5.92m distance.
Both 4x400 meter relays posted season bests, led by Keniya Walker, Blake Blakemore, Kayli Williams and Shadae Worrell, who placed second overall with a 3:47.13 time. Brittney Green, Justein Whyte, Lailah Palmer and Aniyah Mosely finished sixth with a season-best3:57.41 times.
The Panther's 4x400 m squad, including Cubillo, Manley, Morris and Dura, also finished third in the distance medley with a 12:45.66 time.
Event Notes:
> Laure Kidkula posted a personal best 2:19.76 time and placed third in the 800m event.
> Jada McBean finished strong in third overall in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.55.
> Kennedy Morris had a season best 2:15 time and placed fourth in the 800m.
> Valissa Brown ran a personal best 8.60 time in the 60m hurdles prelims to qualify for the finals. She finished sixth overall, following Kayli Williams who finished fourth overall with a 8.71 time.
> Gabrielle Key set a personal best 5.16m distance in the long jump.
> Panthers finished 6th-8th in the 200m, led by Blake Blakemore. Maleah Heard ran a PR 24.42 time.
> Jessica James finished with a leap of 11.82m in the triple jump and placed second.
> Kennedy Jacquet set a personal best 11.48m distance, and Toni Eason set a season best 11.26m distance in the triple jump invite.
> Jayda Parsons placed third with a leap 5.40m in the long jump.
> Gabrielle Key and Marie Tchocksi both had a distance of 5.16m in the long jump.
> Kendall Ward finished the two day event with a leap of 1.72m and placed third in the high jump.
> Morgan Manley finished fifth in the 400m, posting a season best 1:00 time.
> Keniya Walker placed fourth overall and set a personal best 56.14 time in the 400m invite event.

The Georgia State Track and Field team will run again on Jan. 26 at 12:00 p.m.as they will travel to Boston, MA to compete in the River Hawk Invitational.
