No. 15 GSU Completes Tough Test Out West

MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. –After splitting results on Wednesday at Long Beach State University, the No. 15 Sandy Panthers fell to four top-15 teams at the East Meets West Invitational. Friday afternoon, Georgia State battled No. 10 LMU before facing No. 13 Hawaii. Beth Van Fleet's squad returned to the beach on Saturday, meeting No. 6 California and host No. 2 UCLA.

Competition Notes:

Georgia State recorded 4-1 losses to LMU, Hawaii, and California before falling 5-0 to UCLA.
Aree Keller and Lila Bordis earned a straight set victory over LMU in the second flight, marking GSU's lone point in the dual. This marks the pair's 10^th win of the season.
Against Hawaii, Michaela Jefferson and Aliisa Vuorinen found success on court 5, outlasting their opposition 21-14, 19-21, 16-14
Angel Ferary and Bella Ferary continued their historic career, notching a straight set win over California at the top flight. This marks the duo's 86^th career victory.

Next weekend, Georgia State will return to Sun Belt Conference Action.
The Sandys will face UNC-Wilmington, Mercer, College of Charleston, and Stephen F. Austin over the course of two days during the Sun Belt Midseason in Huntsville, Ala.
The Panthers will to continue their success against UNC-Wilmington, as GSU is 7-0 in all-time meetings dating back to 2016
The meeting against Mercer marks the second match between the two programs this season. Georgia State emerged victorious in the first meeting.
GSU edged out College of Charleston in the programs' last meeting in 2023, 3-2. Overall, the Panthers hold the 10-2 advantage over the Cougars
The Sandys last faced Stephen F. Austin in the opening round of the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Championships, marking the first meeting against the Lumberjacks. Georgia State won 3-0 in route to earning the Sun Belt Conference title.
GSU remains undefeated in Sun Belt play this season (2-0).
