SEATTLE - After falling to host No. 11 Washington on Friday afternoon, No. 15 Georgia State upset the Huskies in the finale of the Alki Beach Invitational.
The two-day tournament commenced Friday morning with a meeting against Boise State. GSU recorded a 3-2 finish against the Broncos. The Sandys continued their success with a 4-1 victory over Oregon before falling 3-2 to Washington. After the results of Friday's action, the Panthers were the No. 2 seed going into Saturday's play.
Saturday morning, Georgia State mirrored their earlier success against Boise State, recording a 3-2 win in the semifinal contest. The Huskies defeated Oregon to set the rematch between GSU and Washington. After trailing 2-0 in the final dual,

Aree Keller started the momentum for the Sandys with a win on the second court. Over the course of the weekend the duo went undefeated.
Savannah Ebarb and
Kaylie Drysdale, who were partnering together this weekend for the first time this season, knotted the contest with a victory in the third position. The race to three points turned to the fifth court.
Ayla Johnson and
Courtney Smith, who had dropped their first set, showed resiliency and outlasted their opposition in three sets to secure the GSU upset. This weekend's duals mark the first time in program history facing each opponent.
The Sandy Panthers will conclude regular season action next weekend at the Gamecock Grand Slam in Columbia, S.C. GSU will face host South Carolina, Jacksonville, LSU, and Sun Belt opposition, Coastal Carolina.
