ATLANTA — The Georgia State volleyball and beach volleyball programs have once again been nationally recognized for their academic performance by earning the 2025 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT, as announced by the organization on Monday.
The AVCA honor is awarded to programs that maintain a year-long team GPA of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Georgia State's court volleyball team continued its strong tradition in the classroom by earning the recognition for the ninth consecutive year.
The Sandy Panthers added to their impressive academic legacy by extending the longest active streak in collegiate beach volleyball, earning the academic honor for the 12th straight season. The team also earned the additional distinction of AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll, which is reserved for programs whose team GPAs rank in the top 20% within their division.
This year's award cycle marked the highest number of recipients in AVCA history, with over 1,450 collegiate and high school teams across the country meeting the criteria. Georgia State's continued presence on the list reflects the success in the classroom, highlighting the university's focus on developing well-rounded student-athletes prepared to excel both during and beyond their collegiate careers.
