ATLANTA — Georgia State senior quarterback Cameran Brown has been named one of 206 semifinalists for the 2026 William V. Campbell Trophy®, the National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame announced Wednesday.

Celebrating its 37th year, the Campbell Trophy recognizes the nation's premier football scholar-athlete for combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.

Brown was selected as Georgia State's sole nominee for the award and joins a record-setting group of 206 semifinalists from across all NCAA divisions and the NAIA. The group includes 95 student-athletes from the Football Bowl Subdivision.

The senior quarterback has continued to lead the Panthers both on and off the field in 2026. Through three games, Brown has completed 61-of-90 passes for 725 yards and four touchdowns while completing 67.8 percent of his attempts and posting a 143.4 efficiency rating.

Brown has accounted for 819 yards of total offense through the first three games of the season, representing 53.5 percent of Georgia State's 1,531 total yards.

Most recently, Brown turned in his best passing performance of the season at UCF, setting season highs with 30 completions, 47 attempts, 282 passing yards and two touchdown passes.

Brown opened the season by completing 15-of-20 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns in Georgia State's win over North Carolina A&T on Sept. 4. He connected with DJ Murray for a 30-yard touchdown for the Panthers' first score of the season.

The William V. Campbell Trophy semifinalists are nominated by their respective institutions, with each school limited to one nominee. Candidates must be a senior in their final year of eligibility or a graduate student or graduate transfer who has already earned a degree, maintain a cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.2, be a significant contributor on the football field and demonstrate strong leadership and citizenship.

This year's 206 semifinalists boast an average GPA of 3.64, with 98 having already earned their bachelor's degrees. The group also features 130 team captains, 24 All-Americans and 114 all-conference selections.

The Campbell Trophy is part of the NFF National Scholar-Athlete Awards Presented by Fidelity Investments, now in its 68th year. The program has recognized 954 individuals and will surpass $13.5 million in postgraduate scholarships with this year's awards.

The NFF will announce 12 to 16 finalists on Oct. 21. Each finalist will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship and become a member of the 2026 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class Presented by Fidelity Investments.

The finalists will be honored at the 68th NFF Annual Awards Dinner on Dec. 8 at the Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. One finalist will be selected as the recipient of the 37th William V. Campbell Trophy and will have his postgraduate scholarship increased to $25,000.

The Campbell Trophy was first awarded in 1990 and has become one of college football's most prestigious honors for achievement on the field, in the classroom and in the community.
