Jeremiah Wilson joins the Georgia State defensive staff as safeties coach after serving on the staffs at Auburn, Tennessee, Florida State, Chattanooga and Akron.
Most recently, Wilson served as an analyst on the defensive staff working with the secondary at Auburn in 2022 and 2023.Â
He spent the 2021 season at Akron as the secondary coach and defensive passing game coordinator.
Prior to Akron, Wilson worked as a defensive quality control coach at Tennessee in 2019 and 2020 after one season as the cornerbacks coach at Chattanooga. During the 2018 season, he helped coach a Mocs defense that led the Southern Conference in turnover margin while ranking No. 2 in scoring defense and passing defense and No. 3 in total defense.
Wilson spent five seasons (2013-17) in various roles on the staff at Florida State, including the Seminoles' BCS National Championship season in 2013. He joined the FSU program in 2013 as a defensive quality control specialist for two seasons and then moved to a graduate assistant role for three seasons, working with primarily with the secondary and in recruiting.Â
Prior to his stint at Florida State, Wilson was an assistant coach at Godby High School in Tallahassee, Fla., from 2010-12, helping the school to the 2012 Florida 5A state championship while coaching the secondary and special teams. He coached eight defensive backs who signed with Power 5 schools, while a total of 14 earned college scholarships. Â Â
Wilson started his playing career at Lenior-Rhyne University in Hickory, N.C., but transferred to Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala., and graduated with a degree in Sport Management in 2009. He started his coaching career as a student coach there, helping Huntingdon to its first appearance NCAA Division III playoffs.
The Georgia native attended Chattooga High School in Summerville.
