Alexandra Preston joined the Panthers as a graduate assistant in August 2023, before being promoted to assistant coach in August 2025.
During her first season as an assistant coach, Preston helped lead a pitching staff that doubled its win production from the previous season. The Panthers earned their first Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week honor since 2017, along with an All-Sun Belt Second Team pitching selection. The 2026 season was a standout year for Georgia State’s pitching staff, which claimed multiple top-10 spots in the program record book, including ranking fourth in single-season strikeouts with 335, along with five additional individual records.

A native of Stockton, Calif., Preston came to GSU after a standout playing career, including three seasons at Fresno State, followed by two years at Alabama State.

She started 102 of the 103 games played in her two-years at Alabama State, ending her career with a .467 slugging percentage. In 2022, Preston led the SWAC with 16 doubles, and then in 2023, she had another strong season with seven homers and 38 RBI, including a multi-homer game in a win over Bethune-Cookman.

Preston earned SWAC Hitter of the Week honors after hitting .308 with two homers and eight RBI in five games.

Prior to Alabama State, Preston played three seasons at Fresno State. During her career as a Bulldog, Preston saw action in 49 games with 30 starts at catcher. She drew 24 walks, recorded 83 putouts and a .989 fielding percentage. She was named Academic All-Mountain West in 2020 and a Mountain West Scholar-Athlete every season at Fresno State.

Preston graduated in May 2023 from Alabama State with a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies with a concentration in political science and a minor in psychology.
