David Whyte joined the Georgia State University Athletics staff in the summer of 2026 as Associate Athletics Director for Compliance.
Whyte comes to Georgia State from UNC Charlotte, where he served as Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance. In that role, he managed key areas of NCAA compliance, including athletics financial aid administration,  department-wide rules education, NCAA and institutional drug-testing operations, institutional reporting and key compliance initiatives. He also played an integral role in the administration of revenue-sharing processes and worked collaboratively with coaches, campus partners, and university leadership to promote NCAA and institutional compliance.Â
Prior to UNC Charlotte, Whyte served as Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance and Student-Athlete Services at Seattle University. During his tenure, he directed the day-to-day administration of the athletics compliance office, supporting 18 Division I sports and more than 350 student-athletes. His responsibilities included NCAA rules education, financial aid administration, transfer and NIL oversight, and developing collaborative relationships with coaches and campus stakeholders to foster a culture of compliance.
Throughout his career, Whyte has established a reputation for building collaborative relationships and providing practical, solutions-oriented guidance in Division I athletics. His experience spans NCAA compliance, athletics financial aid, student-athlete development, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and strategic rules education, with a focus on supporting coaches, administrators, and student-athletes while promoting institutional integrity.
Whyte earned both a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Sports, Exercise, and Performance Psychology from Barry University. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Morgan State University.
