Joseph Brooks

Joseph Brooks joined the Georgia State staff as the assistant athletic director of sports turf and grounds in September 2023. 

Brooks comes to GSU from an extensive background in field operations. 

Before joining the Panthers' athletic staff, Brooks worked as the director of field operations for the Rome Braves, the Atlanta Braves' minor league affiliate team, from 2018-2023. He moved into the position from the Chattanooga Lookouts, where he worked as the head grounkeeper for a year. 

Brooks got his start in field operations in 2013 as Georgia Southern's director of sports turf before moving to a head groundskeeper position for the Greenville Astros in 2016. 

Native of Albertville, Ala., Brooks is a four-year letterwinner in baseball at Shorter University, where he obtained his bachelor of science in history education in 2010. He moved to Shorter from Snead State Community College, where he played baseball for two years.
