Joshua Eckert

Joshua Eckert was named the assistant coach of the Georgia State court volleyball program in June 2024. He comes to GSU after nearly 10 years of coaching and three years of playing men’s volleyball at the professional level. 
 
Before joining the Panthers’ volleyball staff for the 2024 season, Eckert participated as an outside hitter for the Beer City Brewers Professional Men’s Volleyball League in Grand Rapids, Mich. for two seasons (2022-24). He moved to the team after playing for the Patriotas de Lares en la Liga de Voleibol Superior Masculina in 2021. 
 
Prior to playing professional volleyball, he worked as an assistant coach for Walled Lake Western High School from 2017-19. From there, Eckert moved to the collegiate level as the assistant coach at Henry Ford Community College from 2017-19. 
 
Eckert began his coaching career with the Unified Volleyball Club in 2015, where he coached 15-17u volleyball. Eckert guided over 12 players to earn opportunities to play at the collegiate level. 
 
A native of Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, Eckert earned his Bachelor of Science in media communications with a concentration in broadcast and journalism for television and radio, with a minor in professional and technical communication at Lawrence Technologial University in Southfield, Mich., where he played collegiate volleyball from 2015-2020.
