Matt Sholtis joined the Georgia State men’s basketball staff in April 2026 as an assistant coach under head coach Jon Cremins.
Sholtis reunites with Cremins after previously working together at both James Madison and Vanderbilt.
He arrives in Atlanta following two seasons as an assistant coach at Longwood (2024–26). Prior to that, he served as director of operations at Vanderbilt and spent three seasons in the same role at James Madison.
During his time with the Dukes, Sholtis helped guide the program through one of its most successful stretches in recent history. In his final season, James Madison won a school-record 32 games and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. The Dukes compiled 69 wins over his three seasons on staff, posting a winning record each year and finishing inside the top 100 of the NCAA NET rankings in each of his final two seasons.
Before James Madison, Sholtis held multiple roles at Charlotte, including director of scouting, where he oversaw the program’s video operations and contributed to recruiting efforts.
A Charlotte graduate, Sholtis earned his bachelor’s degree in communications in 2019 and his master’s degree in liberal studies in 2021.
