Terryonte Thomas joined the Georgia State men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach in April 2026 under head coach Jon Cremins.

Thomas arrives in Atlanta from New Mexico State, where he spent three seasons on staff, including two as an assistant coach under head coach Jason Hooten.

 He joined the Aggies after serving as a graduate assistant at Sam Houston during the 2022–23 season, helping guide the Bearkats to one of the most successful campaigns in program history. That team matched a school record with 26 wins and earned the No. 1 seed in the WAC Tournament.

As a player, Thomas competed at multiple levels, including stints at East Mississippi Community College, Sam Houston and Mississippi University for Women. At EMCC, he earned NJCAA All-Region 23 honors and first-team All-State recognition after averaging 13.7 points per game and helping lead the program to a conference championship. He later played two seasons at Sam Houston, appearing in 51 games, before finishing his collegiate career at Mississippi University for Women. There, he averaged 22.9 points and 8.0 rebounds per game, ranking among the top scorers in the USCAA.

Thomas earned his bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State.
