Softball Shut Out 8-0

AUBURN, Ala. (02/14/07) ? The Georgia State softball team was shut out 8-0 to Auburn at Jane Moore Field on Wednesday in six innings.  State was held hitless as Auburn's pitcher threw a no-hitter.

 

The Panthers (1-4) could not get any offense flowing, never reaching past second base, and only hit the ball in the outfield once.

 

The Tigers (2-5) scored two runs in the opening inning; the first score was a two-run homer.  Auburn crossed four more runners in the fifth frame off a sacrifice fly, a triple and another two run blast.  After an error and a single in the six inning, Auburn score the two runs needed to end the game on the 8-run rule.

 

Chelsey Morgan (0-2) picked up the loss for State.  Holly Currie (2-2) grabbed the win for Auburn.  Currie struck out 15 batters and walked two.
