MOBILE, Ala. - The Georgia State volleyball team managed to win the first set, but lost the next three to the Jaguars.
The Panthers (5-16, 0-7 Sun Belt) fell to the Jaguars (7-10, 2-5) in four sets, 22-25, 25-14, 25-22, 25-19.
Sophomore Dede Bohannon shined in the four set loss, tying her career high with 19 kills on .308 hitting. Bohannon also had four block assists and five digs. Freshman Kristina Stinson followed her 11 kills on Friday night with eight kills Saturday night. The Panthers hit .123 overall, compared to the Jaguars' .237.
Freshman Molly Shonk had three service aces, while junior Natalia Nieto had 32 assists and one service ace. Senior Emily Averbeck bettered her Friday night dig total by one, racking up 20 digs in four sets against the Jaguars. Junior Andrea' Ezell had six block assists, while the Panthers had a total of 11.5 team blocks.
The Panthers will have five days off until they travel to Louisiana-Monroe for a Friday night showdown on Oct. 18. They will then return home for an Oct. 20 matchup with Louisiana-Monroe in the GSU Sports Arena.
