ATLANTA – On Friday night, Coastal Carolina defeated Georgia State in straight sets to earn its third consecutive win. Georgia State fell to 6-10 overall and 2-3 in the Sun Belt.

GSU got off to a fast start in the opening frame. The Panthers led 11-6 before Coastal scored six points in a row. The Chanticleers did not look back from there.

Senior OH Kristina Stinson led the way for Georgia State offensively and defensively with eight kills and 11 digs. Sophomore Sarah Renner added 19 assists.

Eliza Zachary registered five kills on the evening. She is just one away from her 1,000th career kill. Freshman DS Celeste Friesen added another eight digs for the Panther defense.

Junior Leah Hardeman paced the Chanticleer attack with a match-high 14 kills. Tahleia Bishop and Annayka Legros combined for another 18 kills as Coastal's offense proved too much for the Panthers.

Coastal Carolina was led defensively by Carla Cahill's 16 digs and Bishop's 11. Jozsef Forman's Chanticleers improved to 4-1 in conference play with the convincing win.

Head coach Sally Polhamus and the Panthers will try to bounce back and match last year's win total with a victory over App State. The Mountaineers have lost 14 straight matches.

Be sure to come out to the Sports Arena and cheer on the Panthers. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
