Panthers Drop Sunday Contest at Ranked Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. – Georgia State's softball team fell 5-0 at No. 13 Auburn Sunday at the Jane B. Moore Field. The Panthers finished the weekend 3-2 at the Tiger Invite.

The Tigers slowed down the Panthers offense with eight strikeouts. GSU was unable to push any runs across against the Tiger pitching staff.

Auburn struck first on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third. An RBI-single brought home another run in the inning and Auburn led 2-0 after three full.

Auburn increased its lead to 3-0 with a two-out RBI-double in the bottom of the fourth. Auburn then brought two more runs in on a single to go in front 5-0.

Remington Hasty broke up Auburn's bid for a no-hitter with a line-drive single in the top of the fifth that ricocheted off the pitcher. Georgia State also put a runner on base in the sixth as Brenna Skalski worked a walk.

Megan Litumbe drew a walk with two outs in the seventh, but Auburn shut the door to remain undefeated on the year.

Next up for Georgia State is a trip to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for the Easton Bama Bash hosted by Alabama.
