ATLANTA - Georgia State took a lead in the third inning, but fell 8-3 Wednesday at Georgia Tech.
The Panthers (0-6) jumped on top 3-2 in the third inning but the Yellow Jackets regained the lead in the bottom half on their way to an 8-3 win. The loss ended a three-game win streak against the Yellow Jackets.
Georgia Tech used a GSU error to score two runs in the bottom of the first at Mewborn field. Kristin Hawkins and Baylee Sexton drew back-to-back walks to start the inning and Reagan Morgan singled to load the bases.
Caitlin Ray then drew a walk to score Hawkins and after a pitching change, Remington Hasty was hit by a pitch in the foot to bring in Sexton and tie the game at 2-2.
With one out, Alyssa Brumelow hit a sac fly to score Morgan and give the Panthers a 3-2 lead.
Georgia Tech answered with three runs of their own in the home half and added another run in the fourth and two more in the fifth to lead 8-3.
Mandy Chance threw two scoreless innings for the Panthers, but GSU couldn't mount a comeback against GT's Johns who earned her second win of the season in the circle.
Remington Hasty went 2-for-3 in the game with an RBI and Caitlin Ray singled to extend her hit streak to six. She's recorded a hit in every GSU game this season.
The Panthers will play five games in Birmingham this weekend as part of the Samford Bulldog Tournament. GSU will start the weekend against Eastern Illinois at 11 a.m. ET on Friday.
