TAMPA, Fla. - Georgia State's softball team dropped a pair of games Saturday at the USF-Rawlings Classic, losing to Virginia Tech 6-0 and USF 6-2.
In the first game of the day for the Panthers, Virginia Tech's Keely Rochard tossed a complete-game shutout giving up four hits. Mallory Parson had a good outing in the circle for GSU, allowing just one hit and one run in 4.0 innings of work.
The Hokies' Emma Strouth was the star at the plate going 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Georgia State fell behind 6-0 to USF in the second game of the day before mounting a rally in the top of the seventh.
Gabby Benson singled up the middle with one out to load the bases. Baylee Sexton then drew a walk to make bring in GSU's first run of the game.
GSU's second run came home on a Reagan Morgan groundout to first base.
The Panthers will play Virginia Tech Sunday at 9 a.m. to close out the USF-Rawlings Classic.
