ATLANTA - Skylar Mosel and Jess Neadow each hit home runs in Georgia State's 14-8 loss to South Alabama in Game 1 of the three-game series.
Mosel's second long ball of the season came in the bottom of the sixth and Neadow's third came with a runner on first and nobody out in the seventh.
GSU's two homers were not enough, however, as South Alabama posted 14 runs on 16 hits and four GSU errors.
The Panthers took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but the Jaguars exploded for five runs, all unearned, in the top of the second. USA led from that point on with GSU closing the gap with a run the fifth, three in the sixth and two in the seventh.
Due to severe weather in the forecast for Sunday, GSU and USA will now play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to Bob Heck Field tomorrow as the Panthers will be sporting pink in honor of the team's annual Play 4 the Cure game.
