Panthers Fall in Game 2 to ULM, Series Finale is Sunday at 1 p.m.

ATLANTA -- Georgia State fell 10-3 to ULM Saturday at the GSU Baseball Complex as the Warhawks won their second straight to clinch the series.

The Panthers (9-22, 2-9 Sun Belt) fell behind 3-0 in the second inning before rallying to tie the game with three runs in the third, all with two outs. Daino Deas tripled past the diving right fielder and scored on Griffin Cheney's double to the gap in left center. After a pair of walks loaded the bases, freshman Chase Frady singled to center field to score two runs and the knot the score at 3-3.

ULM (13-18, 4-7 Sun Belt) took the lead with two runs in the sixth and then scored two more on a throwing error in the seventh.

Trailing 7-3 in the eighth inning, Georgia State had a great chance to cut into the lead with bases loaded and one out. Luke Leonard hit a long fly ball that the right fielder caught up against the wall, although it appeared that the ball hit the wall first. The GSU runners tagged, but the umpires ruled that the runner from first did not tag and called him out for an inning-ending double play.

"Luke really hit that ball well and it was a great at-bat," head coach Greg Frady said. "I thought the ball hit the wall, so I disagree with the call on the field. It certainly was a big moment in the game.

"But our job is to win the game and there are no moral victories. There are things we're going to have to do better. Everything is not someone else's fault. We have to look inward first and correct those things."

Frady, the rookie third baseman, was 2-for-4 with two RBI, while Deas had three of the Panthers' eight hits.

The series finale is Sunday at 1 p.m.
