Lewis Leads Panthers Past Warhawks

Panthers have won three of their last four games.

ATLANTA -- Jada Lewis scored a season-high 18 points to lead Georgia State past ULM 68-52 Saturday at the GSU Sports Arena.

Georgia State trailed ULM 13-12 after the first quarter, but the Panthers went on a big 18-3 run to end the first half and never looked back. The win marks five in a row over the Warhawks.

Turnovers were the key Saturday as the Panthers capitalized on ULM's mistakes, scoring 26 points off turnovers. The GSU defense recorded 10 steals and seven blocks, six of which came from Shaq Miller-McCray.

With the six blocks, Miller-McCray moved into fourth in GSU's record book with 128 career blocks.

"Shaq is a player who has found a way to impact the game without scoring," head coach Gene Hill said. "We're really excited about what she was able to do and her presence in the middle."

Miller-McCray also finished with eight rebounds and four assists.

Eleven different players scored for GSU as the Panthers continue to share the ball. Along with Lewis' 18 points, Taylor Henderson posted 12 points and three assists. Taylor Hosendove added nine points and seven rebounds.

GSU shot 47% from the field while holding ULM to 36%.

The Panthers, who have now won three of their last four games, improve to 1-1 in conference play. GSU travels to Arkansas next week to face Arkansas State and Little Rock.
