Panthers Cruise to 105-60 Win Over Toccoa Falls

Box Score ATLANTA-Georgia State finished with five players in double figures and cruised to a 105-60 win over Toccoa Falls on Friday afternoon at the GSU Sports Arena.

Georgia State (2-0) broke the 100-point plateau for the second-straight game, the first time reaching triple figures in back-to-back games since the start of the 1991-92 season.

Junior Justin Roberts led the Panthers with 23 points going 9-of-10 from the floor and 5-of-6 from 3-point range, while redshirt-junior Eliel Nsoseme just missed a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds as head coach Rob Lanier kept each starter under 25 minutes.

Georgia State opened the game scoring the first 17 points as Toccoa Falls (0-5) missed their first 14 shots. The Panthers pushed the lead to as many as 38 points before heading to the locker room at halftime.

Senior Corey Allen added 18 points on six 3-pointers, while Ryan Boyce, earning his first start, and freshman Evan Johnson each scored 12 points.

The Panthers finished the game shooting 56.2 percent from the floor while holding the Screaming Eagles to just 34.4 percent.

Toccoa Falls was led by Alex Forde who scored 18 points, while Luke Baham added 13.

Game Notes
  • Georgia State improved to 2-0 for the first time since the start of the 2017-18 season.
  • Georgia State and Toccoa Falls College were meeting for the first time in program history.
  • Georgia State has won 12-straight home openers following the win on Friday.
  • Since returning to the Sun Belt in 2013-14, Georgia State has won more games (155) than any other NCAA Division I team in Georgia.
  • Kane Williams, who scored two points on Friday, is now just 21 points shy of 1,000 for his career which would make him the 23rd Panther to reach the career milestone.
  • The Panthers outrebounded Toccoa Falls 47-31, while turning the ball over just seven times.
Georgia State will return to the road for the first of two games with Mercer this season, the first coming on Monday night in Macon. The game can be seen on ESPN+ and heard on WRAS-FM 88.5 at 7 p.m.
