GSU Drops Doubleheader in Madeira Beach

The Panthers lost both games Friday at THE Spring Games.

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. -- Georgia State lost 4-0 to Presbyterian and 3-1 to South Dakota Friday at THE Spring Games.

The Panthers stumbled in the first inning against Presbyterian as the Blue Hose used three hits and an error to build a 3-0 lead.

A storm forced a rain delay for around 30 minutes in the top of the fourth. The winds picked up in the ballpark and remained a factor for the remainder of the evening.

GSU was limited to two hits, one from Olivia Davis and the other from Bailee Richardson. Gabby Benson and Sydney Stavro both reached base on walks for GSU but all four runners were stranded.

In the second game of the day, Emily Buck got the start in the circle against South Dakota. Buck went 5.0 innings and held South Dakota to two earned.

USD scored runs in the second, third, and fifth innings to lead 3-0 going into the top of the seventh.

GSU got a pair on with one out for Sofia Tunon who doubled to right field, bringing in a run. South Dakota would shut the door with the tying run at the plate, however, to win 3-1.

The Panthers have two more games Saturday at THE Spring Games. GSU plays Butler at 4 p.m. and Akron at 6:30 p.m. Both games will be streamed by FloSoftball.
