Penn State Sweeps Doubleheader

GSU dropped both games Friday against the Nittany Lions.

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ATLANTA -- Georgia State held Penn State to just six runs over two games Friday at the Bob Heck Softball Complex, but the Panthers fell in both games, 3-1 and 3-0.

Savannah Freeman had another strong outing in Game 1 holding Penn State to three earned runs on six hits as she went the distance for her fourth complete game of the season. Freeman totaled seven strikeouts.

The Nittany Lions got the big hit in the fifth inning with a three-run homer. GSU responded with a run in the bottom of the inning off a double by Olivia Davis, but that would be it for the Panthers as PSU would go on to win 3-1.

In Game 2, Emily Buck also threw a complete game, once again holding Penn State to three runs. GSU's offense, however, was blanked despite five hits.

Georgia State hosts Rider Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. as the I-75 Challenge continues.
