Comeback Comes Up Short on the Road

Georgia State rallied late but was defeated 58-46 by South Alabama Friday in Mobile.

Box Score MOBILE, Ala. -- Georgia State made a late run Friday in Mobile but fell to South Alabama 58-46 to split the two-game series on the road.

The Panthers (7-6, 3-3 Sun Belt) trailed by as much as 20 points as Georgia State struggled to find the bottom of the net in the first three quarters. After falling behind 38-23 going into the fourth quarter, the Panthers went on a 12-0 run to pull within five at 42-37 with a little over five minutes to go.

South Alabama held on to win by holding the Panthers without a field goal over the final 3:14. 

Kam Dziak, Elexus Bell, and Taylor Henderson each finished with eight points to lead the team. Bell added seven rebounds while Henderson totaled six. Taylor Hosendove nearly had her second double-double in as many days with seven points and nine rebounds.

Georgia State goes back on the road next week to play Appalachian State Feb. 5 and 6 in Boone, N.C.
